Serving A Level Maths students across Al Mizhar 2, Al Mizhar 1, Mirdif, Rashidiya, Al Nahda, Deira & the broader east Dubai corridor — over twenty years of A Level results behind us
Al Mizhar 2 is one of Dubai’s quieter success stories. Developed as a primarily residential district on the eastern edge of the city during the 1990s & early 2000s, it was planned for Emirati families & long-established expatriate communities who preferred spacious villa plots & a neighbourhood environment rather than the high-rise density of newer developments. Located between Al Mizhar 1 & the Mirdif corridor, the area has remained largely low-rise & unhurried, a deliberate contrast to the rapid expansion transforming much of Dubai. Today it is home to multi-generational households, several well-respected schools & an increasing number of students preparing for British curriculum examinations.
Why A Level Mathematics demands more than most students anticipate
Dr Anil Khare: A Level Mathematics marks a genuine step up from GCSE or IGCSE. The volume of content increases considerably, but more importantly, the nature of the questions changes fundamentally. At A Level examiners do not simply ask students to apply a rehearsed method but they present problems that require students to choose the appropriate strategy, adapt it to an unfamiliar situation & communicate their reasoning with clarity & precision. A student who succeeded at IGCSE by relying on standard templates will often find that those templates are quickly exhausted at A Level.

How we keep parents informed
Parents in Al Mizhar 2 should always be informed about their child’s academic trajectory. Our communication is organized, reliable & authentic:
• Written progress reports after every four sessions topic by topic.
• Mock exam breakdown with step-by-step feedback pinpointing exactly where marks are being lost
• Exam preparation plans tailored around the student’s exact paper dates & available time
• Immediate, clear communication with parents and no waiting, no ambiguous updates.
We are a long-term academic partner for students & families, not simply a resource that appears before exams & disappears afterwards.
Questions parents in Al Mizhar 2 ask us
My child’s school covers the syllabus quickly and moves on. How do you handle a student who has missed key topics?
Dr Anil Khare:We start every new student engagement with a diagnostic assessment, not a formal test, but a structured discussion set of targeted questions that pinpoints exactly which topics have been understood & which are missing or only partially grasped. From there we create a topic map & tackle gaps methodically, beginning with the foundational concepts that support later topics.
How do you approach exam technique, not just content knowledge?
Dr Anil Khare:We approach exam technique as a separate skill within our sessions. This involves focusing on how to interpret questions & manage time, how to structure work to secure method marks even if the final answer is incorrect, how to determine the appropriate formula or strategy for a problem, & how to verify answers under exam conditions. Both content knowledge & exam skills are essential. — students who excel in one without the other consistently underachieve relative to their potential.
My child understands the work in class but freezes during exams. Is this something tutoring can address?
Dr Anil Khare:Yes, and it is more common than most parents realise. Exam paralysis in Mathematics usually arises from one of two causes: either a student’s understanding is shallower than it appears, they follow explanations but struggle to produce solutions independently or the exam technique used will be underdeveloped. We establish which factor is causing that at an early stage. If the issue is caused by the level of understanding, we rebuild it through independent problem-solving rather than relying on guided examples. If the issue is exam nerves or weak exam habits, we introduce regular timed conditions until performance under pressure becomes familiar rather than intimidating.
My child is aiming for a top engineering or computer science programme. How important is the grade beyond simply passing?
Dr Anil Khare:For competitive engineering &computer science programs at leading UK and international universities, an A* in A Level Math is increasingly regarded as the standard rather than the exception. Admissions processes at many universities treat the Maths grade as one of the primary screening criteria. A student who achieves an A rather than an A* is not excluded, but they enter the competition for places from a less advantageous position. We work with academically ambitious students specifically on the most demanding questions in Paper 2 & the applied papers where A* marks are typically gained or lost.
Is online tuition genuinely as effective as coming to your centre, particularly for a practical subject like Maths?
Dr Anil Khare:For Mathematics in particular, online tuition can be highly effective when delivered properly. We use shared digital whiteboards that allow both the tutor & student to work through problems simultaneously in real time, closely replicating the experience of working together on paper in person. Students can follow each step as the solution develops, annotate it, ask questions at any stage & share their own attempts for immediate feedback. Many of our Al Mizhar 2 families adopt a hybrid model: in-person sessions for the initial diagnosis & the introduction of new topics, followed by online sessions for regular weekly practice.
My child has a resit coming up. Can you prepare a student specifically for a resit rather than the full course?
Dr Anil Khare:Yes, and resit preparation is a specialized program distinct from full-course tuition. A resit student usually has a broadly complete understanding of the syllabus but retains specific weak areas & exam habits that cost them marks in the first sitting. We begin by reviewing their previous paper performance to pinpoint precisely where marks were missed, then design a targeted program that addresses those areas alongside intensive timed past paper practice.
